It all started when Brian and Steve Beneduce’s father started a plastics manufacturing company in Rhode Island in 1978. Brian Beneduce, who was 16 at the time, and Steve Beneduce, who was 14, worked summers at the plant, learning the business from the ground up. Brian ended up running the plant for about six years before taking on the sales role, putting his valuable experience gained working in the plant to great use helping customers directly.
In 1986, after graduating from college, Steve, too, joined the company full time, working in the plant like his brother and eventually going on to run the printing department. In 1990, Brian had the idea to form Ocean State Packaging, taking on his brother, Steve, as sales began to soar over the next three years. Having Steve take care of the business aspect allowed Brian to concentrate on sales and, with all of their knowledge gained over years of working with plastic packaging, Ocean State Packaging took off.
Business was booming and, in 2002, it was decided that an additional salesman would be needed for the rapidly growing company. Brian and Steve thought about who they might target and one person kept coming up. Bryan Plotts was their biggest competitor and it seemed that wherever Brian Beneduce traveled for sales, he would run into Bryan Plotts in the lobby. Bryan accepted the invitation to join Ocean State Packaging and, within three years, the company doubled in sales. It was at that point that the two brothers decided to make Bryan a third partner. Over the next 13+ years, the company continued to expand, even opening a second sales office in New Jersey in 2017 to accommodate the growing business.

Ocean State Packaging History
1978
Brian Beneduce starts working summers at his father’s plastic bottle manufacturing company – Luben Plastics Engineering, Inc.
1986
Steve Beneduce graduates from college and joins Luben plastics. Becomes Plant Manager in 1988
1993
Steve Beneduce joins Ocean State Packaging. Takes over operations while Brian Beneduce focuses on sales.
2007
Steve Beneduce and Bryan Plotts made partners at Ocean State Packaging.
1984
Brian Beneduce takes on sales role after years of running the plant
1990
Luben Plastics liquidates after father retires. Brian Beneduce creates Ocean State Packaging Corporation.
2005
Bryan Plotts brought on by Ocean State Packaging to help grow the sales division.
2017
Ocean State Packaging opens second sales office in New Jersey.
